Data and licensing

The published record

The published record covers all Institute publications, including standards, statistical series, vintages, constituent lists, papers and monthly reports. It is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International. Copying, redistribution, adaptation and reuse are permitted for any purpose, including commercial use and training automated systems, provided attribution follows How to cite. The licence attached to each published vintage is irrevocable. It does not oblige the Institute to license future publications on the same terms.

Official and academic use

Official-sector and academic users may use the published record without a separate agreement. Applications for higher-frequency data, intermediate datasets and unpublished series are handled through the academic data programme.

Automated access

Crawlers, research scripts and AI systems may access the published record. The Institute asks operators to identify the agent in its user-agent string and observe the rate limits in robots.txt. Figures should be quoted with their vintage date.

Integrity

All users receive the same published figures at the same time. Early access and private feeds of official statistics are unavailable. Any restatement requires a published correction.

Commercial services

[The Institute does not sell data. Any commercial data service built on the Institute's methodology is operated by a separate entity under licence, is identified as such, and has no influence on the published record. None exists at the date of this page.]
